Counselling With Louise

About Me

Initially I trained as a Beauty and Holistic Therapist and then went into education as a teacher for 25 years. Whilst working as a college lecturer I did a part-time RSA Counselling course as I felt a real heart for helping people. My own beliefs and experiences led me to search for greater understanding and the seed was planted which was to shape the rest of my future...

I have volunteered for a couple of charities, one who supported survivors of sexual abuse, incest and rape and the other, bereavement and life-limiting illness. I have worked in a couple of secondary schools where I supported clients who had a range of difficulties; including anxiety, anger, bullying, eating disorders, abuse (online, sexual, domestic, emotional) sexuality and those exploring neurodiversity.

Interests

I have a particular interest in eating disorders, trauma and sexual abuse and the impact this can have on our sense of ourselves. I have learned for myself that facing our experiences is hard and that it can feel difficult to own or hold our painful stories too close to ourselves. I have also learned that a failure to bring into the light, talk about, and share what is true for us, no matter how hurtful, heavily contributes to feelings of loneliness, lost connections, and isolation and that this, in turn, adversely affects our ability to experience happiness and good mental health and well-being. It is a privilege to be alongside you in your journey and I look forward to working with you.
